The Nail Files - New Year's Eve/Day Mani

 photo newbutton_zps284b4cd7.jpg

I did these Tuesday, New Years Eve, while I binge-watched Downton Abbey. Aside from running the dishwasher and cooking dinner, doing my nails was the only thing I did all day while sitting on the couch with one of my favorite British shows. And, since I was having a lazy day, I kept it simple:

Julep's Claire under Sinful Color's Ice Dream.

Before settling on Claire, I actually had four different blues on four fingers trying to decide the right shade to go under Ice Dream (from my Christmas haul). I think Claire was a perfect choice. Ice Dream went on very well. It's a clear polish with tiny silver glitter and larger blue flakes. The picture doesn't do the silver justice, but you can kind of see it there. And it has nice coverage, for a glitter polish.

Now, come join the rest of nail polish junkies and show off your manicure from the week!

Happy Friday, dolls!

The Nail Files, a little late

 photo newbutton_zps284b4cd7.jpg

This seems to be the only thing I have time to post lately. There's really not a good reason for it...it's just the way life is right now. I'm looking forward to things calming down...eventually!

On to this week's (and more) polish adventures!

If you follow me on instagram, you may have already seen this:
Essie's Set in Stones over two coats of Essie's Smokin' Hot. It was my mani for most of this week. I think I applied on Tuesday night, just in time for Christmas day. It's not a full hot mess now, but it's chipped it's way to {almost} oblivion now. Which is fine...I'm ready for a change now.

I got some great colors in my stocking this year, too:
Essie's Mochacino (not sure if you can see, but it has a hint of shine in there), Sinful Color's Ice Dream, and Essie's On a Silver Platter.

Ice Dream may appear in the mani I do for New Year's. I love the blue mixed with silver. I just need to find a base!

Well, dolls, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week and you got what you wished for.

Until next year (I just love saying that!)...

The Nail Files

This past week I was out and about locally for work. My hours were crazy and I just wasn't in the mood for blogging (gasp!). But I did do my nails, as they looked horrible going into Monday and I couldn't go out with un-professional looking nails.

So I kept it simple:

Glass Pink by Sinful Colors

It's a shimmery, PALE pink that is great for the subtle look. It's, honestly, not one of my favorites. But it's good for the weeks I have to deal with students and other professionals.

FYI, to those that wonder why I tone down the colors when I'm on the road for work...I had a colleague tell me he didn't think my navy blue nails were very professional looking once. And since he was kind of a manager, at the time, I figured I should listen. Anyway, it's just kind of stuck with me even though I know there are TONS of professional ladies out there that rock the dark colors or the mixed colors or the fun looks.

What are your thoughts on "professional" looking nails?

Come join up with the rest of us who want to brag about our manicures:

Happy weekend!

Nail Files - Week 31

I'm going to keep it simple this week:

Sinful Colors - Nirvana

Unfortunately, i wasn't completely dry from my topcoat when I went to bed after doing my nails Wednesday night, so they ALL have sheet marks on them...oh well! I like this color enough to not really care about the smudges.

Come on over the link up party and share what your nails look like this week!

Nail Files - Week 30

I figured the best way to get back into the swing of things was with a self-done manicure. I needed it! My nails were all uneven and just gross looking, despite the clear polish. So I'm linking up with Tara & Vicki for:

I used Sinful Colors:  Timbleberr as my base and Hazard as my dots. Bottom & Top Coats by Essie.

I kind of think the nail with the dots looks like it's developed some disease. But it was my first attempt at dotting and I don't have the "proper" tool for it. I used the head of a pin. I may order one in the near future as I've seen a lot of really cute nails with dots.

Come share your manicure, or pedicure, with the rest of us!
