Nail Files - Week 26

Getting back in the swing of things, I'm linking up with Tara & Vicki for

The Nail Files

A few months back, after trolling reading some of the other blogs on this weekly link up, I decided to join Julep Mavens and get nail polishes every month. Here's a look at what I've gotten so far:

Charlotte was week 15, Jennifer was week 16, Fina was week 19, Marisa was week 21, and Rose was last week (week 25, though I didn't post in time to link up).

Since I know I won't really get a chance to wear them all over the next few weeks I thought I'd give you an idea on what the rest look like:

Surprisingly enough, I ended up liking the Hayden more than I thought I would. It's a great summer fun color. And the Alyson looks better with a glitter top - like one of the Essie Lux Effects or something similar.

Despite all these colors, I decide to go with Julep's Claire and Essie's Lux Effects Shine of the Times on my ring fingers for the remainder of the week and into the weekend. Here's what it looks like:

It's hard to see it in this picture, but the Essie glitter polish has a bit of a holographic nature to it (which you can see a little in the bottle).

And my July Julep box will have some patriotic colors to it so I'm hoping it'll come in time for July 4th next week!

Thursday's Through The Lense - June's Favorites

Here's a look back at some of my favorite photos from June.

We finally made it back to Disneyland & California Adventure. I got some new ears!

Ah...home away from home! I love putting our passes to use!

The Lego Store in Downtown Disney got some updated Lego "Statues" that are more in tune with where they're located:  Prince Phillip fighting Maleficent in dragon form (from Sleeping Beauty).

 Belle & Beast

We found Beast's Library in California Adventure. We each did a little cheesy quiz. Turns out Mr S is most like Buzz Lightyear.

And I am most like Lady.

This is in Eureka, CA. It's the Carson Mansion.

Along the Trinity River in Northern California

 Whiskeytown Lake, Northern California

So What Wednesday

And this is my official attempt to get back on track with all aspects of blogging!

Once again, I'm joining with Shannon for:

This week, I'm say "So What If..."

* I fell of the 30 day/300 Ab challenge last week. I kind of figured I would because I knew there would be A LOT of driving around southern Idaho and I would just not be in the mood to crunch. But I'm back on it this week, much to the dismay of my abs.

* I overspent this week's check. I have been putting off getting a new bra for quite some time now and, well, it was just time. So I got two...and some new V/S fragrance stuff that's going the way of the dino.

* I am slowly putting my house back in order. Seriously, I have no idea how it got so chaotic. I mean, there's only two of us living here. There are no munchkins and no furry fiends. And yet certain areas are disaster areas!! It WILL be neat and orderly this weekend!

* Mr S is more tan than me. For a man who "can't tan" he sure is doing a good job of it. Don't mind my pasty white self, I'll just go blend in with the wall.

* I'm severely tempted to pull the final $230 from my revolving loan to pay off a credit card. Either way I'll still owe that money. It just means one card is paid off a month early and I can focus on the next one with my first paycheck in July. It's so tempting!!!!

* I told Mr S that if we are in this apartment for another year, I'm buy some furniture. Thankfully, he agreed, even though we both don't really want to have to haul more stuff down stairs when we do move. We are running out of shelving space and I am especially tired of not having room for stuff in the kitchen, that we keep acquiring thanks to my mom's continual purchase of things we didn't get off our wedding registry.

* I also informed Mr S that when we do move into a house we have purchased, I will be investing in a moving company! I am not doing multiple runs up those 19 stairs if I don't have to!

Well, that's all I'm saying So What to, for now. I hope everyone is having a great week so far.  Happy Wednesday!

Nail Files - Week 25

This is obviously a catch up post as it's a few days later than the actual day.  But I'm working on something for this Friday's Nail Files and needed to get this "out of the way".

I got a new Julep box a few weeks ago:

Great summer colors, right?! I know...I felt the same way. And I love the addition of the Pixie Stix (sp?) candy!!

So I went all summer-y on my nails:

Meet Julep color Rose. I swear to you, the picture doesn't do her justice! She looks more read, but she's really quite a dark coral/pink-ish. A FANTASTIC summer color. So with the exception of last week's work sponsored road trip, I've been rocking Rose on my nails and toes (HA...a rhyme!!).

Next week I'm going to show the colors from past Julep boxes that I haven't worn yet. And then whatever I decide on to finish off this week with.

Crazy week

Hey, y'all!

I just wanted to apologize for being MIA the last few weeks, and this week.  It's been a bit crazy.  My travel for work has me, quite literally, driving all over the state I'm in (two weeks ago and this week). By the time I get to the hotel I have to unload my two suitcases (one with clothes, one with work materials), lay out my clothes (or iron, if needed) for the next day, prep my materials for all my stops the next day, homework, and my end of day paperwork (to help lighten the load for when I get back to the office), there just isn't much time left for blogging. Which I hate because I really enjoy telling y'all about my life...all 10 of you.  :)

BUT...I'm home the next two weeks. Hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things. I may even start write stuff and then set the schedule so that it'll just post when the day comes. And if it's a linky party, all I have to do is go back and link up that morning or evening. But that might be a little too adventurous for me...remember, I'm a procrastinator at heart.

This week I'm in Southern Idaho. It's mostly flat and a few hills. There are mountains, in the distance. It's actually kind of pretty though. I had a little time to spare today and stopped at a look out point for Snake River in Twin Falls. Very pretty. That may have to be one of my Thursday's Through The Lense Posts - trip pictures.

Well, off to prep for tomorrow. Adieus...

So What Wednesday

It's that time of the week again!!

So What If:

* this is the only post I did last week.  And it's looking to be the only post this week at the rate I'm going.

* I am just now getting around to buying some wedding pictures from our photographer. I have the rights to them, I can go anywhere for them. But I kind of feel obligated to buy some stuff from him since he gave us such a stellar deal on the photography itself. And his prices are pretty reasonable, compared to others!

* I officially started the 30 day/300 ab challenge Monday (also hosted by Shannon), but I've only done about half the work out over the past two days. They weren't kidding...the first few days are killer on the abs!! I'm taking it slow to work my EXTREMELY out of shape body into it...doing about 3 or 4 of the exercises a day. My goal is to start doing all 11 next week. Hopefully by then my abs will have "adjusted" to the trauma stretching/moving/crunching.

* aside from the ab work outs, I'm doing nothing to promote weight loss! But I do have a reason behind that:  Dr appointment tomorrow to find out why my thyroid levels are freaking out on me lately. Once that's taken care of, back to the treadmill!

Well, that's all I've got for today. Seriously, I thought there was more, but my brain just isn't working properly yet this morning.

Later...

So What Wednesday

Once again, I'm linking up with Shannon over at Life After I Dew for this week's installment of

 So What If:

* I want to start the 30 day/300 Ab Challenge that Shannon is hosting but I'm not going to till next week.  I've heard the first 4 days are killer and I just can't handle that while I'm on the road.  Last think I need to do is ache and pain my way into a partner meeting and not be able to function properly (sit, stand, get in/out of a car, etc).  But I will be starting on Monday...you are all my witnesses to my confession!!

* I have lost motivation to prepare for tomorrow.  But I need to tonight because I have a 3.5 hour drive ahead of me and the sooner I leave the sooner I get there and can get out of the car.

* I'm a little freaked out by all the homeless/transients I've seen the last two days. I am sincerely sorry for the legitimate circumstances that put these people where they are in life. However, they still freak me out a little bit.

* I am thinking of taking a break from my "real" classes next term to take French.  I've always wanted to learn it and my school is actually offering it online next term. I don't need another elective.  But I want to take French!

* It's time for me to get off this addiction called the internet and do something productive.

Nail Files - Week 22

I thought I'd try something a little different this week.  I used the Sally Hansen Salon Effects for a change.  I found some on clearance at Target a week or so after Easter and finally decided to give one a try.

Day of Application (5/27):
Left Hand

Right Hand

The edges are a little rough, but not bad for my first time using these things.  They're actually pretty easy to apply (I did have a few issues applying to my right hand but it's mainly because I'm right handed and can do NOTHING of use with my left hand...seriously, if I ever broke my right hand/wrist/arm...I'd be SCREWED!!!).

They did pretty well with regards to how long they last.  They advertise that they last for up to 10 days.  Here's what they look like today (6/1):
Left Hand

Right Hand

You can't really see it because the color is so light, but I do have some chipping on the tips of my right index and middle fingers.  But other than that (and some growth at the cuticles), these did a fantastic job of lasting.  I didn't use a base coat or a top coat mainly because the instructions didn't say anything about it.  I may use a top coat next time just to see if it'll help the tips any.

I'm very satisfied with these!!  I even got a few compliments from random folks in the week I had them on.

I've linked up with Tara & Vicki for this post.  Come check out the other nail color enthusiasts and link up with us!
